DAY 01 COLOMBO

For your last night in Sri Lanka, proceed to Colombo today. You could want to take one of our many walking tours or go shopping in the afternoon. Colombo has an extensive dining selection that will please both adults and kids.

DAY 02/03 ANURADHAPURA, CULTURAL TRIANGLE

A significant city in Sri Lanka’s north central plain is Anuradhapura. It serves as both the capital of the District of Anuradhapura and the Province of North Central. The city is located in the North Central Province on the banks of the ancient Malwathu Oya, 205 kilometers (127 mi) north of the current capital, Colombo. Due to its well-preserved ancient Sinhalese civilisation ruins, the city is now recognized as a World Heritage Site.

DAY 04 CULTURAL TRIANGLE MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK

The North Central Province of Sri Lanka is home to Minneriya National Park ,After being proclaimed a wildlife sanctuary in 1938, the region was officially named a national park on August 12, 1997.[1] The area was designated as protected in order to safeguard the nearby wildlife as well as the Minneriya Tank’s catchment. For the elephant population that lives in the forests of the Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts, the park serves as a feeding ground during the dry season,

Polonnaruwa is the capital of Sri Lanka’s North Central Province and the main town of Polonnaruwa District. One portion of Polonnaruwa is still the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, while the other part of Polonnaruwa is known as New Town. Polonnaruwa, the second oldest kingdom in Sri Lanka, was initially founded by the Sinhalese kingdom as a military outpost.[1] After the Chola dynasty successfully invaded Anuradhapura, the country’s capital at the time, in the tenth century, they renamed it Jananathamangalam. A World Heritage Site designation has been given to the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa.

DAY 08 Kandy

The journey from the Cultural Triangle to Sri Lanka’s hill capital – the small lakeside city of Kandy – will occupy most of the morning. Experience the ancient Kandyan heritage. Visit the  Temple of the Tooth in Kandy where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined since 4th Century A.D. The temple has decorative walls, a golden roof and fine woodwork. DAY 09 / 10 / 11 HATTON

Train Ride from Kandy to Hatton

Hop on board the train from Nuwara Eliya and enjoy one of the most glorious train journeys in the world, winding through spectacular mountain scenery until you reach Kandy – Sri Lanka’s hill capital. Spend a night in the town. (Rest day).

DAY 12/13 Yala National Park, Yala

Here’s your chance to explore the southeast of Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park, home to water buffalo, elephants, and, hopefully, leopards in the wild. Yala offers several options for luxurious glamping as well as chic and avant-garde boutique hotels, proving that game parks don’t have to be all dirt and muck. Stop in Buduruwagala on way to witness the highest Buddha statue carved out of rock in Sri Lanka. We recommend shortening your travel duration and going directly to Galle, the hub of Sri Lanka’s boutique industry, if you’re not into game parks.

DAY 14/15 BENTOTA IS A WEST COAST

You may unwind and enjoy the wide sandy beaches and the turquoise waves of the Indian Ocean by taking a quick drive north to the family-friendly seaside town of Bentota. Water sports such as windsurfing, wave boarding, jet skiing, banana boating, and water skiing are available on the serene Bentota lagoon, providing plenty of entertainment for kids. A puppet play featuring puppets from Sri Lanka may be enjoyed in Balapitiya, and they will adore witnessing the newborn turtles at the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Project.
